Dogwood season has not yet arrived, but at the end of summer, this bright berry from the south will appear on the markets. I propose to cook a delicious vitamin jelly from dogwood. It is delicious both warm and cold. If you want a thicker drink, increase the amount of starch. Thick jelly can be poured into bowls and cooled.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1. Sort dogwood, and remove leaves, and petioles. Wash under running water, and let the water drain.
  2. 2. Boil 0.5 liters of water in a saucepan. Put the berries and boil until soft. Throw the boiled dogwood into a sieve, do not pour out the broth. Rub dogwood through a sieve. Combine puree with broth.
  3. 3. Pour 3/4 cup from the remaining two liters of water. Combine the rest of the water with dogwood broth and mashed potatoes. Put on fire, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add sugar to taste, and stir.
  4. 4. Add starch to cold water, and mix.
  5. 5. Pour water with starch into a boiling broth of dogwood in a thin stream, stirring constantly.
  6. 6. Bring the jelly to a boil and turn off the heat.
  7. 7. Pour the jelly into glasses and serve.
