Kutia with milk or kolivo is served on the table on Friday evening during the first week of Lent. No non-traditional products are added to colivo, and we will not deviate from tradition, but we will add apples :)

  1. To prepare kutia, first of all, it is necessary to sort out the wheat grains, selecting the spoiled, sprouted ones, and then rinse the wheat in warm water. The grain should be washed until you are sure that there is no waste, husk or debris left in the cereal. Clean water should flow out of the colander.
  2. The washed and sorted grain is soaked in cold water for 2-3 hours, after which it is poured with milk, 0.5 teaspoon of salt is added and boiled until cooked over medium heat. The grain should be soft, but not boiled. After the wheat has cooked, cut the apple into not too thin slices and stir.
  3. After the wheat has cooled, add honey to it. Then you need to mix everything thoroughly, put it in a dish and sprinkle with powdered sugar. You can decorate with sweets, chopped fruits or berries. You can serve it in the evening, for an afternoon snack or dinner.
